My favorite interior designer [kreyv] is guest blogging on my blog today.  If you haven’t had a chance to check out her stuff head over here now or follow her on Facebook.  She is amazing, oh and she is my sister so she ROCKS!

Layering is one of my favorite ways to display photos, and the good news is that it is easy, requires zero to minimal holes in the wall, and is easy to change and switch out.  Photo layering can also be displayed anywhere from a ledge, mantle, dresser, or even the floor.

Here are a few tips when layering your photographs:

(1) Vary the size and height of your frames.  Start simple.  Use a large, medium, and small frame, then add from there.

(2) To create the illusion of one large piece, use same-sized ledges or shelves on an open wall.  The ledges/shelves will serve as your outline or frame, and your photos will fill in the empty spaces.

(3) Use similar or the same colored frames. While this isn’t always necessary, using the same frames will create a streamlined, cohesive look.

And, finally, be creative and make it your own!  Use these guidelines, and then add your personal touches, such as a monogram, mirror, or other items you want to incorporate.

Wall Displays

January 28, 2011

I, along with my clients, are always looking for ways to display images.  I am obsessed with this new design blog Kreyv, who just happens to be my incredibly talented little sister.  Check it how and follow this blog for tons of great ideas.

Okay you just got your pictures taken and you have a bazillion pictures that you love, but don’t know where to put them or even how you would display them.  This is were the world wide web can help you have your own personal interior designer.  There are a ton of great blogs out there with great ideas on how to display pictures.  I don’t consider myself crafty per se, but on occasion I like to steal (I mean borrow) ideas from other people.

Here is my little boy’s room.  As you can tell we have an airplane/army theme going on here.

I ordered 5 clipboard off of ebay.  Then mixed a little orange and brown paint to give them a tarnished look.

blog2

Took him outside and let him play with airplanes and snapped a few shots.

blog3

I got 8×10 pictures printed on mat board.  This is great when you plan on displaying pictures without framing.

blog4

There you go.  One more way to display pictures.
