I am so in love with my brand new niece. Little. Sweet. Perfect.

I am so lucky that every single person I take pictures of is beautiful! It is true! Seriously what are the chances?

I am a little obsessed with making New Years Resolutions. It is the inner nerd in me that loves to make lists, but loves to check things off the list even more. Even though I have a busy photography year ahead of me with lots of great opportunity to grow and learn. I still found myself stumped on what to write on my list of goals under the category titled Photography. My goal is always to make people feel beautiful and help them recognize the beauty that sometimes they don’t see, but I want more. I want my photography to speak. I want to create images that move people to tears. Images that pull on your heart strings and tell a story that you wish you were a part of. Emotion! I.WANT.MORE.EMOTION. So here is to making you cry this year. Here is to creating something beautiful. Here to inspiring just one person.

Who LOVES photography? Who LOVES Vegas? Ummmm everyone should! My fabulous friends Jean and Travis Smith are putting on a workshop next month in Vegas. Thank you for everyone who entered the contest. There were lots of awesome ideas. I have the best fans EVER! It was hard for me to decide, but alas the winners are Alexia Goodwin and Allyson Holland. Thank you again all that entered! I promise I will do a few more giveaways in 2012!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I had an amazing year with a bazillion A-MAZING clients. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for all your business! In honor of an awesome 2011 and even awesomer (is that a word) 2012 to come, I have decided to give away 2 mini sessions. The two sessions will be themed and/or styled by YOU. The session needs to have a theme. Some examples are here, here, here, here, here or here . It could be vintage, bohemian, hippie, cowboy and indian, picnic, campout, etc….you get the idea. Let me hear your ideas. I want to know the theme, the location and any other details that will make it rock! All you need is an awesome idea and YOU of course. Oh wait it gets better. Another MAJOR bonus is HAIR AND MAKEUP will be provided if applicable. Yup, you heard it right!
To enter, go to my facebook page, “LIKE” the page if you haven’t already done so, and then post your idea for your photo shoot on my facebook wall.
After posting your idea to my Facebook wall, you can win one of two ways…
1. Click the “share” tab on the bottom left of my Facebook page and use this “I so badly need a free session from Brittni Schroeder Photography, and I need your help! Please go over to her Facebook page and either “like” my comment or leave a comment on why I should win!” You may have to let them know that they have to “like” my page before they can leave a comment or “like” your comment. The person with the most “likes” on their idea combined with the comments from people you sent (your name must be mentioned in their comment so I know who to give credit to) will win a free mini session!
2. The other way to win is by me choosing your styled session idea as my favorite! Please remember to post your ideas to my Facebook page, not in the comment section of my blog!
*One idea per person please.
These sessions are for 1 year old and up!
GOOD LUCK!
My favorite interior designer [kreyv] is guest blogging on my blog today. If you haven’t had a chance to check out her stuff head over here now or follow her on Facebook. She is amazing, oh and she is my sister so she ROCKS!
Layering is one of my favorite ways to display photos, and the good news is that it is easy, requires zero to minimal holes in the wall, and is easy to change and switch out. Photo layering can also be displayed anywhere from a ledge, mantle, dresser, or even the floor.

(1) Vary the size and height of your frames. Start simple. Use a large, medium, and small frame, then add from there.

(2) To create the illusion of one large piece, use same-sized ledges or shelves on an open wall. The ledges/shelves will serve as your outline or frame, and your photos will fill in the empty spaces.

(3) Use similar or the same colored frames. While this isn’t always necessary, using the same frames will create a streamlined, cohesive look.

And, finally, be creative and make it your own! Use these guidelines, and then add your personal touches, such as a monogram, mirror, or other items you want to incorporate.

El Paso’s weather is gorgeous! One of the reasons I love it so much here is the amazing weather. We very rarely have to even pull out the coats. For some reason every time Bailey and I scheduled a session…crappy weather. After rescheduling 3 times for bad weather we FINALLY got some pictures!

I dragged the hubs out to do some Black Friday shopping. He wasn’t a happy camper, but I was because I LOVE IT! I love all the good deals, but I especially love all the crazies! Nothing like a good fight to start of the festivities of the holiday season.
Another thing I love is all these beautiful seniors. Love all of them!
